Welcome. This is a homebase for the music and writings of Alee Karim. These include chamber compositions, my solo psychedelic pop band, and pieces written for my bands/collaborations, The Atomic Bomb Audition and Holly Caust. I will be continuously updating this so check back often.

Sounds section features excerpts from work I’ve done and will soon include links to zip files so you can download entire albums of ABA, chamber stuff, and more for free. Writings section is at this time merely a link to my blog, City of Perpetual Resonance. That too will feature more expanded content in the future.

Oh, and when my webmaster returns from his European holiday, we’ll work on “zazzing” things up a bit. But for now, you’re stuck with my darsh HTML skills and that beautiful Blake painting in the background, “Elohim Creating Adam.”

Alee Karim

(b. 1980) is a composer and guitarist living in San Francisco, CA. My work is aural cinema, in that I arrange sonic textures & motifs like scenes in a film. In my work, harsh dissonance gives way to gentle themes; alien juxtapositions veil sentimental tropes in order to trace the dense emotional architecture of the modern psyche. Growing up in Los Angeles amidst speed metal and Top-40 radio, my constellation of influence expanded to include composers Gyorgy Ligeti and Trey Spruance, director David Lynch, and author Philip K. Dick. In 2007, I received an MFA in Music from Mills College. My collaborators include composer/engineer The Norman Conquest, electro-acoustic chamber pop duo Myrmyr, and percussionist Shayna Dunkelman. I perform solo and with my band, The Atomic Bomb Audition.
